Former NAV Investigator Alleges High-Level Cover-Up of Gattyán Tax Case

Lajos Tiszolczi, a former major investigator for the Hungarian National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV), has alleged that high-ranking political figures orchestrated the dismissal of a tax fraud case against media mogul György Gattyán. In a recent interview, Tiszolczi named Antal Rogán, Ráhel Orbán, and István Tiborcz as the individuals who arranged for the case to be dropped, suggesting they received political or financial compensation in return. He further claimed that Antal Rogán personally intervened to remove NAV leadership and the Director General of Criminal Justice because they refused to terminate the proceedings. Beyond the Gattyán case, Tiszolczi discussed alleged secret service surveillance of opposition figures, including members of the Tisza Party, and recounted his own monitoring by security services. He also revisited the controversial 2012 extradition of Azeri ax murderer Ramil Safarov, linking it to a suspicious $9 million transfer that he attempted to investigate for money laundering but was blocked from pursuing. These allegations point to significant corruption and abuse of power within Hungary's state institutions.
