Former JPMorgan Chase banker expands sexual harassment and racism lawsuit with new claims and defendants
Chirayu Rana, a former JPMorgan Chase banker of Nepali descent, has expanded his lurid sexual harassment and racism lawsuit against the bank, adding new claims and three new defendants. The 82-page complaint alleges that racism was ingrained in his all-white leveraged finance team, where he was called a 'monkey' and 'brown boy,' and that colleagues suggested he transact in rupees and threatened to call ICE on his family. Rana also renews allegations that executive director Lorna Hajdini coerced him into sex and demanded submissiveness for career advancement. Hajdini has countersued for defamation. The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court, adds managing directors Brandon Graffeo and Jon Wolter, and associate Kelly Crowe as defendants. Rana seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages for violations of federal and state civil rights laws, as well as defamation and sexual assault claims. JPMorgan has previously said the allegations are meritless.
