Former Brighton goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley joins Birmingham City
Newly-promoted Birmingham City have signed goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley as a free agent after her departure from Brighton. The 29-year-old returns to the club she joined at age six and where she made her senior debut in 2014. She has signed a two-year deal with an option for another year. Baggaley previously played for Bristol City and Manchester United before joining Brighton in 2023, making 42 appearances. She was voted Brighton's player of the season in her debut campaign but lost playing time after the arrival of Nigerian keeper Chiamaka Nnadozie. Baggaley has been a regular in England squads since 2025 but is yet to earn a senior cap. Birmingham manager Amy Merricks praised her experience and leadership.
