Ford Recalls Over 500,000 Broncos Due to Engine Fire Risk from Wiring Defect
Ford issued a recall on July 24, 2026, for more than 500,000 Bronco SUVs (2021-2026 models, including Bronco Raptors) due to a wiring harness defect in the engine compartment that can cause a short circuit, potentially leading to engine fires. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) filing notes drivers may see smoke or warning messages before flames appear. Ford is aware of 15 fire incidents but no injuries or accidents. Owners will be notified on August 24, and Ford will install a new wiring compartment covering for free. This recall adds to Ford's record-setting pace of recalls in 2026, with 60 total recalls so far, the most of any automaker, following 153 recalls in 2025.
