Fluor Selected for FEED of GPIC's Aromatics Project in Bahrain
The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has appointed Fluor to lead the front-end engineering and design (FEED) for a new aromatics facility in Bahrain. The plant will produce approximately 1.2 million tonnes per annum of paraxylene and 500,000 tonnes per annum of benzene, which are key feedstocks for plastics, polyester fibers, and packaging materials. GPIC, a joint venture equally owned by Bapco Energies (Bahrain), SABIC Agri-Nutrients Investment (Saudi Arabia), and Petrochemical Industries (Kuwait), currently operates an existing complex in Sitra producing ammonia, urea, and methanol. Fluor's energy solutions business group president expressed confidence in delivering the complex petrochemical project. The award underscores GPIC's investment in Bahrain's industrial future.
