Five More Brazilian Stadiums Trial Semi-Automated Offside Technology
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is advancing the implementation of semi-automated offside technology (SAOT) across its top-tier football league. Over the recent weekend, five additional stadiums—Arena Fonte Nova, Vila Belmiro, São Januário, Maião, and Mangueirão—successfully conducted tests for the full installation of the system. Currently, 16 stadiums have the technology fully installed, while Estádio Nilton Santos and Cícero de Souza Marques are scheduled for final testing during upcoming matches involving Botafogo, Corinthians, and Red Bull Bragantino. CBF Refereeing Director Netto Góes highlighted the collaborative effort with clubs and federations to complete installations across 19 venues in just a few weeks. The project is entering its final phase, with remaining tests planned for MorumBIS and Mineirão during matches on May 23 and 24. Guilherme Buso, representing Genius operations in Latin America, stated that the league will use the period before the World Cup break for final equipment calibration and adjustments. This initiative aims to enhance officiating accuracy in the Brazilian Série A through advanced camera systems and automated tracking.
