First National Indoor Apnea Championship 'Lizeth Marzano' Inaugurated in La Videna

The Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) and the Peruvian Sports Federation of Underwater Activities (FEDEPASA) have officially inaugurated the first National Indoor Apnea Championship, named in honor of Lizeth Marzano, at the La Videna Aquatic Center. The event serves as a tribute to Marzano, a distinguished national athlete in the discipline, whose legacy was celebrated during the opening ceremony. Key figures, including Mauricio Martínez and FEDEPASA Vice President Andrés Lenz Berastain, participated in the protocol, highlighting the importance of fostering competitive environments for indoor apnea in Peru. A poignant minute of silence was observed, and a memorial plaque was presented to Marzano's family to recognize her achievements in national and international competitions between 2022 and 2025. The championship spans three days and features federated and invited athletes across Senior, Junior, and Master categories, open to participants aged 15 and older. This initiative aims to promote the growth of the sport, strengthen high-performance standards, and nurture new talent within the country. The event underscores the ongoing commitment of the IPD, under the leadership of Sergio Ludeña Visalot, and the Ministry of Education to support federated sports and enhance the development of specialized athletic disciplines in Peru.
