Fired KTLA Anchor Kacey Montoya Appears on Rival Fox 11 to Promote Animal Nonprofit

Kacey Montoya, a former weathercaster for KTLA who was dismissed earlier this year during widespread layoffs at the station, recently made a public appearance on rival Los Angeles network Fox 11. She joined the program Good Day LA as a guest to advocate for her nonprofit organization, Fix’n Fidos. Established officially in 2019, the nonprofit focuses on reducing animal shelter overcrowding, providing spay and neuter services, and assisting pet owners, including veterans, with unexpected veterinary costs. Montoya cited the euthanasia of animals due to lack of space as her primary motivation for starting the initiative. The appearance served as a professional reunion with anchor Araksya Karapetyan, whom Montoya worked with two decades ago in Portland. Montoya’s departure from KTLA followed February announcements that she and other prominent staff members were let go, a move reportedly driven by parent company Nexstar Media Group’s strategic acquisition of Tegna. Despite the abrupt end to her thirteen-year tenure, Montoya expressed gratitude for her time at KTLA while continuing her advocacy work in the Los Angeles media landscape.
