Everton Announces Departure of Idrissa Gueye
Everton Football Club has officially announced the departure of midfielder Idrissa Gueye, 36, after his contract expired. The Senegalese international, who has 135 caps, leaves the Premier League club following a second spell that began in September 2022 after his stint at Paris Saint-Germain. Gueye previously played for Everton from 2013 to 2016, making 108 appearances. In his second tenure, he played 125 matches and became a key leader under manager David Moyes. Everton's statement, relayed by Moyes, praised Gueye's dedication, professionalism, and influence on and off the pitch, particularly during the club's final season at Goodison Park. The club expressed gratitude and wished him and his family well, noting he will always be welcome at Everton. Gueye's total of 236 appearances across both spells cements his legacy as a significant figure in the club's recent history.
