Eight held from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh for suspected terror links
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested eight individuals, including two teenagers, from Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh on July 2, 2026, for alleged links to the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Officials stated the group was attempting to establish a JeM network in Gujarat and other parts of India, planning terror attacks, and recruiting members. Over 250 pieces of jihadi literature and eight letters addressed to JeM founder Masood Azhar were recovered. The accused received ₹3 lakh to buy an old car and arrange a safe hideout. They translated radical literature into Gujarati. Three were associated with religious seminaries. The ATS is investigating funding sources and contacts. This follows a similar April 2026 arrest of two men for radicalizing youth online and targeting political figures.
