Edin Dzeko Close to Signing One-Year Contract with Schalke 04
FC Schalke 04 is close to finalizing a one-year contract with veteran striker Edin Dzeko (40), according to BILD Sport. The agreement was hinted at by coach Miron Muslic after a 3-1 test match win against Fagiano Okayama in Austria. Schalke's sports director Frank Baumann presented a performance-based offer with a base salary of around 900,000 euros, potentially rising to 1.3 million euros with bonuses, making Dzeko a top earner alongside Kenan Karaman and Robin Gosens. Both parties have moved closer and agreed on a one-year deal. Dzeko, who has been without a contract since July 1, met with Baumann in Dubrovnik, Croatia, during his vacation. He played for Schalke in the second half of last season, scoring six goals and providing three assists, playing a key role in the club's promotion to the Bundesliga.
