Duron Sutton Hired as Germantown High School Football Coach
Germantown High School has appointed Duron Sutton as its new head football coach, replacing Gene Robinson. The announcement was confirmed on May 14, 2026, by Ridgeway Athletic Director Rhonda Kendall, who also noted that Ridgeway assistant Jeremy Stewart has been promoted to head coach to succeed Sutton. Sutton brings 16 years of experience from Ridgeway High School, where he compiled a 92-86 record, although his final season in 2025 ended with a 1-9 record. He shares a professional connection with Germantown Principal Jonathan Stencel, who previously served at Ridgeway. Gene Robinson, who led Germantown to a 44-16 record over five seasons and a recent playoff appearance, is departing under unclear circumstances as neither he nor school administrators were available for comment. Sutton is scheduled to begin his tenure with the 2026 season opener against rival Houston on August 21. This coaching change marks a significant leadership transition for one of the Memphis area's prominent high school football programs.
