Dominik Szoboszlai signs new Liverpool contract; Aston Villa pursue João Gomes
Dominik Szoboszlai has signed a new contract with Liverpool until 2031, calling it one of the top three moments of his life. The 25-year-old Hungary captain, who scored 13 goals last season, had been in negotiations with sporting director Richard Hughes for months. Meanwhile, Aston Villa are closing on a €45m deal for Wolves midfielder João Gomes as a replacement for Youri Tielemans, who joined Manchester United. Villa are also finalizing a club-record £52m deal for Freiburg's Johan Manzambi and working to sign Pervis Estupinan from Milan. Leeds are close to reinforcing their defense with a £34m deal for Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemovic, who played at the World Cup. Coventry City have made Eintracht Frankfurt defender Aurele Amenda their third signing since promotion, with manager Frank Lampard cited as a key factor.
