Doeren Mayhew acquires Houston CPA practice Sowers & Company
US-based tax and advisory firm Doeren Mayhew has acquired Houston CPA practice Sowers & Company for an undisclosed sum. The deal expands Doeren Mayhew's tax and outsourced accounting capabilities in Houston. Sowers & Company, founded about 20 years ago by Jason Sowers with shareholder Erin Fowler, serves high-net-worth individuals and small to mid-sized businesses. As part of the transaction, Sowers and Fowler will join Doeren Mayhew's leadership team in principal roles, and all employees have moved to Doeren Mayhew's Houston office. The acquisition is part of Doeren Mayhew's accelerated growth in Houston, where it has integrated five practices in the past year, increasing headcount by 58% to nearly 220 employees. The firm also recently purchased Griffin Global Technologies to broaden its technology and AI capabilities.
