Derby County Releases Elder, Osborn, Rooney, and Weimann
Derby County has announced the release of four players—Callum Elder, Ben Osborn, Jake Rooney, and Andi Weimann—as their contracts expire at the end of the 2025-26 season. Australian defender Callum Elder, 31, made 86 appearances for the club after joining from Hull City in 2023 and was the only one of the group to finish the season with the Rams in the Championship. Austrian international Andi Weimann, 34, spent the latter part of the season on loan at Rapid Vienna. Former captain Ben Osborn, 31, played on loan at League One side Stockport County throughout the campaign. Jake Rooney, 22 and cousin of former Derby manager Wayne Rooney, concluded his spell with loans at Barnsley and Boston United after joining from Burnley in 2022. Meanwhile, the club is engaged in negotiations with centre-back Danny Batth regarding a potential new contract. This roster update marks a significant shift for the second-tier side as they prepare for the upcoming season.
