Delhi Police asks X to remove posts targeting constitutional heads
On July 29, 2026, the Delhi Police wrote to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) requesting the removal of posts containing derogatory, malicious, and defamatory content targeting constitutional heads. The police also demanded registrant details of the account holder. Separately, the Delhi Police is also sending takedown notices to Instagram regarding reels and posts from youth protests at Jantar Mantar. These notices are issued under Section 79(3)(b) of the Information Technology Act, which notifies platforms of illegal content but does not impose a legally binding takedown requirement.
