Czech Police Detain Suspect in Theft of Medieval Saint's Skull

Czech authorities have detained a 35-year-old man suspected of stealing an 800-year-old relic, believed to be the skull of Saint Zdislava of Lemberk, from a church in the northern Czech Republic. The theft was reported on Wednesday after security camera footage captured an individual dressed in black fleeing the Saint Lawrence and Saint Zdislava basilica in Jablonne v Podjestedi with the artifact. Police announced on Thursday that they had successfully located the rare relic following their investigation. Saint Zdislava, who lived from 1220 to 1252 and was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1995, is revered for her generosity and work with the poor. The incident has drawn significant attention, with Prague Archbishop Stanislav Pribyl describing the theft as devastating news for pilgrims and the faithful.
