Cruise Ship Ambition to Dock in Bilbao Following Norovirus Outbreak

The British cruise ship Ambition, currently isolated near Bordeaux, France, due to a norovirus outbreak, is scheduled to dock at the Port of Bilbao on May 18, 2026. The vessel has approximately 1,700 people on board, and confinement measures were recently suspended for passengers not exhibiting symptoms after the death of a 92-year-old passenger from gastroenteritis. Javier Padilla, the Secretary General of Health, stated that there is currently no data confirming the presence of Spanish passengers on the ship. He emphasized that External Health authorities are closely monitoring the situation and implementing control measures to prevent transmission both on board and during disembarkation.
