Chinese Man Banned for Life from Thailand After Kicking Airport Auto-Gate

A 30-year-old Chinese national, identified as Zheng Liwei, has been banned from entering Thailand for life following a violent incident at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport. On May 13, while attempting to clear immigration for a Spring Airlines flight to Shanghai, Zheng became frustrated when the auto-gate failed to open due to incorrect passport placement. In a fit of anger, he kicked open the gantry, forced his way through without authorization, and verbally abused Thai immigration officers in Mandarin and English. Despite attempts by officers to detain him, Zheng resisted arrest until his wife intervened to restrain him. He was subsequently arrested by airport police. As a consequence of his actions, Zheng faces prosecution for property damage and abusing an official on duty. He has been ordered to pay 450,000 baht (approximately S$17,705) in compensation for the damaged equipment and has been placed on the Thai immigration blacklist, prohibiting him from ever returning to the country. The incident highlights the strict enforcement of immigration laws and the severe penalties for disruptive behavior at international transit hubs.
