Cassidy Campaign Accuses Louisiana Gov. Landry of Election Meddling and Voter Disenfranchisement

This move was intended to allow the legislature time to redraw congressional maps following a Supreme Court decision impacting the Voting Rights Act. Cassidy’s campaign argues that subsequent rule changes, specifically regarding the Declaration of Ballot Choice for unaffiliated voters, have created intentional confusion to suppress votes for Cassidy. The campaign alleges that Landry is attempting to aid Cassidy’s primary challenger, Representative Julia Letlow, who has received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump. Cassidy, who previously voted for Trump's impeachment, faces additional challenges from State Treasurer John Fleming.
