Carnival Cruise Passenger Dies After Jumping Overboard in Caribbean

A male passenger aboard the Carnival Liberty died after jumping overboard into the Caribbean Sea on Tuesday. According to officials, the unidentified man climbed over his stateroom balcony railing while the ship was sailing. Although crew members threw a life ring and launched a rescue search, they quickly lost sight of him. The man was eventually recovered from the water but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. He had been traveling with family members, who are receiving support from cruise line employees. The motive for the jump remains unknown. This incident marks the second death associated with Carnival Cruise Line in less than a week. Previously, an 88-year-old woman died after falling off a pier at Celebration Key, the cruise line’s exclusive island destination, while traveling on the Carnival Celebration. Police believe she struck her head against the ship's hull before entering the water. The Royal Bahamas Police Force is investigating the earlier incident. The Carnival Liberty was on a seven-day round trip from New Orleans to the Bahamas at the time of the latest tragedy.
