Cambridge Shooter Tyler Brown Arrested After Daylight Rampage Despite Police Warnings

Tyler Brown, a 46-year-old man recently released from prison, was arrested after allegedly opening fire with an assault rifle on a busy street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The incident occurred in broad daylight near the Cambridge Street Bridge, close to Harvard and MIT campuses. Brown fired approximately 60 rounds at random, striking two victims who remain in critical condition. The attack ended when a Marine veteran and a Massachusetts State Trooper exchanged gunfire with Brown, wounding and apprehending him. This event validates earlier warnings from Boston police officers who testified in 2021 that Brown would kill someone if given a lenient sentence for a previous 2020 shootout with police. Instead of the recommended 13 years, a judge sentenced him to five to six years. Brown, who also had a prior conviction for knife assault in 2014, was on parole at the time of this latest alleged rampage. He now faces charges including assault with intent to murder and various firearms offenses. Survivors praised the bravery of the civilian hero who helped shield them during the chaos.
