California Teen Arrested for Manufacturing and Distributing Ghost Guns to Classmates

A 16-year-old student at Garfield High School in San Diego was arrested on May 6 after police discovered him carrying a concealed semi-automatic ghost gun on campus. The incident triggered a broader investigation by the San Diego Police Department, leading officers to search the teenager's residence. There, authorities uncovered equipment and materials linked to firearm manufacturing, including a 3-D printer, carbon filament, ammunition, handgun magazines, and devices designed to convert weapons into machine guns. Investigators suspect the teen not only manufactured these weapons but also distributed them to classmates. Additionally, he is considered a suspect in a recent robbery at a local trolley station. The student has been booked into a Juvenile Detention Facility facing multiple charges, including illegal gun possession, manufacturing, and robbery. In response, Garfield High School Principal Guillermo Medina announced that the school would pursue an automatic recommendation for expulsion. Police spokesperson Ashley Nicholes emphasized the department's swift action to address such threats, aiming to reassure concerned parents about campus safety and law enforcement responsiveness.
