Borussia Dortmund Earns Millions from Asia Marketing Tour in Japan
Borussia Dortmund is generating approximately five million euros from its annual marketing tour in Japan, according to BILD. The Bundesliga club is currently in Osaka for the first leg of the trip, where it will play a friendly against Cerezo Osaka before moving to Tokyo to face FC Tokyo. Revenue comes from sponsorship appointment fees and match income, with the Bundesliga also covering travel costs for trips to strategically important markets like Japan. Beyond immediate earnings, Dortmund's management is using the tour to finalize lucrative sponsorship deals with Japanese industrial partners such as Yanmar, Panasonic, Daikin, and Mitsubishi, each potentially worth seven-figure sums annually. These partnerships are linked to Dortmund's infrastructure projects including stadium modernization and training ground expansion. Managing director Carsten Cramer praised the trip's international marketing opportunities, noting that only Bayern Munich and Dortmund are currently undertaking such tours.
