Billionaire Ken Griffin Will Now Own Entire Block In Miami After City Approves Land Sale
Miami city commissioners unanimously approved the sale of a city-owned plot at 190 Southeast 12th Terrace in the Brickell neighborhood to Citadel CEO Ken Griffin for $2.98 million. The plot, which houses a historic 121-year-old cottage that was the office of Miami's first physician Dr. James Jackson, is the last piece of land on a block Griffin already largely owns. In a separate deal, Griffin agreed to fund the preservation and relocation of the cottage, though the move still requires approval from Miami's Historic and Environmental Preservation Board. The Dade Heritage Trust, which currently occupies the cottage, supports the deal. Griffin has spent an estimated $700 million on properties in the area since announcing Citadel's relocation to Miami in 2022, including buying out an entire condo tower for $125 million and a $106.9 million mansion in Coconut Grove. Forbes estimates Griffin's net worth at $52.2 billion.
