Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari Denies Immediate Talks on 28th Constitutional Amendment

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has explicitly denied that any immediate discussions are taking place with the federal government regarding a potential 28th Constitutional Amendment. Addressing the PPP’s parliamentary party meeting, he stated that no talks have occurred yet but reserved the right to comment on future developments. This clarification follows statements by State Minister for Law Barrister Aqeel Malik, who rejected rumors that the proposed amendment would roll back the significant provincial rights granted by the 18th Amendment. Bilawal emphasized the PPP's historical role in securing provincial representation in judicial bodies through previous amendments. Additionally, the PPP chief announced the formation of a four-member committee to handle budget negotiations with the federal government, highlighting the party's critical support for passing the national budget. He warned of economic hardships and inflation affecting citizens while expressing willingness to collaborate with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s administration to alleviate economic pressure. Bilawal also clarified that no offers had been made to him concerning Iran-US negotiations, maintaining a focus on domestic political and economic stability amidst ongoing crises.
