Batik Air Expands Network with New Routes to Shanghai and Sydney in 2026
Batik Air has announced a significant expansion of its international network for 2026, introducing new direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Shanghai and Sydney. The Kuala Lumpur–Shanghai service is scheduled to commence on June 23, 2026, complementing existing connections to other Chinese cities like Guangzhou and Chengdu. The direct flight to Sydney will begin on July 1, 2026, strengthening the airline's presence in Australia. Additionally, Batik Air is reinforcing its services to established destinations such as Osaka, Japan, and Colombo, Sri Lanka. Operating from both Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, the carrier offers connectivity to over 60 destinations across more than 20 countries. CEO Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy stated that these additions align with sustained market demand and aim to enhance tourism and business travel links between Malaysia and key global markets. The airline also maintains a robust domestic network, providing seamless access from East Malaysian cities like Kuching and Kota Kinabalu to its international hubs, thereby supporting broader regional connectivity and travel efficiency in the Asia-Pacific region.
