Barcelona Monitored Mason Greenwood but He Joined Fenerbahce
Barcelona considered signing Mason Greenwood to bolster their attack after the former Manchester United forward enjoyed an excellent 2025/26 season with Marseille, recording 26 goals and 11 assists across all competitions and earning a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year. Barcelona had previously used Marcus Rashford on loan but declined to activate his €30 million purchase option. The Spanish champions monitored Greenwood but their interest never progressed beyond early stages, as they focused on other targets like Karim Adeyemi and Anthony Gordon. Greenwood has since completed a permanent transfer to Fenerbahce for €39 million, signing a four-year contract. Manchester United benefited from a sell-on clause, receiving over €10 million. The 24-year-old winger spent two productive seasons in Marseille rebuilding his career after leaving Manchester United.
