Bahamian Pilot Credits Faith After Miraculous Atlantic Crash Landing

Ian Nixon, a veteran Bahamian pilot, successfully executed an emergency water landing in the Atlantic Ocean after his Beechcraft King Air 300 suffered a catastrophic failure of both engines and all avionics systems. The incident occurred approximately 50 nautical miles off the east coast of Florida while the chartered flight was en route from Marsh Harbour to Freeport. Despite losing radio communication and navigation capabilities, Nixon managed to keep the aircraft controlled until impact. All eleven people on board survived the crash, with only three sustaining minor injuries. Following the landing, the group endured rough weather on a life raft for several hours before being spotted and rescued by the U.S. Air Force's 920th Rescue Wing. Nixon, who received treatment for minor injuries in Melbourne, Florida, described the survival as miraculous and emphasized the importance of faith and family. The Bahamas Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority stated it would not investigate the incident as it occurred outside territorial waters, leaving the inquiry to other appropriate authorities.
