Babcock and Supacat Partner for British Army Light Mobility Vehicle Bid
Babcock International and Supacat have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on the British Army's Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV) competition, which aims to replace the aging Land Rover fleet. The partnership will leverage Babcock's General Logistics Vehicle (GLV) family, based on the Toyota Land Cruiser LC70 platform, offering medium wheelbase, long wheelbase, and utility variants. The collaboration builds on their previous work, including the Jackal 3 programme. The UK Ministry of Defence issued a Request for Information for the LMV platform in January 2025, seeking a common wheeled utility platform to consolidate vehicle types. Competing bids include a team-up between General Dynamics Land Systems–UK and Ricardo, offering militarized Ford Ranger variants. Both companies emphasize UK-based supply chains and sovereign capability.
