Argentine Goalkeeper Dibu Martinez Rescued After Truck Gets Stuck; Gives National Team Souvenirs to Neighbors
Argentine national team and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano 'Dibu' Martinez experienced a mishap during his post-World Cup vacation when his pickup truck got stuck in dry mud on a rural road near the Los Padres Mountains in Argentina. Local neighbors came to his aid, using a vehicle to tow the truck out. In gratitude, Martinez gave the neighbors signed Argentine national team souvenirs, including a jersey and a photo of his key save in the 2022 Qatar World Cup final against France. He also removed the official national team jacket he was wearing and gave it to one of the rescuers, who later appeared on local television and recounted being moved to tears by the gesture. Martinez is set to return to Aston Villa later in the summer to prepare for the new season.
