While the Labour Party’s National Executive Committee must still approve Burnham’s candidacy, sources indicate Starmer will not block him. With nearly 90 MPs publicly calling for Starmer’s resignation, the party faces internal fragmentation as figures like Angela Rayner and Ed Miliband are also tipped as potential successors.
