AMD Medusa Point 10-Core APU Posts Best Geekbench Score, Outpaces All x86 Mobile Chips in Single-Core
AMD's upcoming next-generation mobile APU, codenamed Medusa Point (Ryzen AI 500 series), has appeared on Geekbench again with its highest scores yet. The 10-core engineering sample scored 3,329 points in single-core and 16,555 in multi-core tests, representing a 5% and 9.7% improvement over its previous showing, respectively. The single-core result surpasses all current x86 mobile chips from both AMD and Intel, trailing only Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Elite. The chip is believed to be the Ryzen AI 9 565, featuring a 5.37 GHz boost clock, 10MB L2 cache, and 32MB L3 cache. This performance leap is attributed to the architectural improvements of Zen 6 silicon. Medusa Point is positioned as AMD's mainstream mobile offering to compete with Intel's Panther Lake, while high-end segments will be served by Nova Lake and AMD's Gator Range.
