AMD Launches Ryzen Pro 9000 Series Workstation Chips with Zen 5 and 3D V-Cache
AMD has officially announced the Ryzen Pro 9000 Series, a new lineup of six desktop processors designed for professional workstations. Built on the Zen 5 architecture, this series marks the first time AMD has integrated its 3D V-Cache technology into the commercial desktop market, moving beyond its traditional gaming applications. The flagship model, the Ryzen 9 Pro 9965X3D, features 16 cores, 32 threads, and a massive 128MB of L3 cache, operating at a 170W TDP. Another X3D model, the Ryzen 7 Pro 9755X3D, offers 104MB of cache at 120W. These chips break the previous 65W power limit for the Pro series to deliver enhanced performance for demanding tasks like 4K/8K video editing, 3D rendering, and local AI inference. All models support up to 256GB of ECC DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5.0 connectivity, alongside AMD’s Pro Technologies suite for enterprise security and manageability. The processors are OEM-only, with no public retail pricing disclosed. Lenovo is set to launch the first confirmed system, the ThinkStation P4, in the third quarter of 2026, with broader availability expected in the second half of the year.
