Alarm Sparked by Roblox Video Depicting NYC High School Shooting
A disturbing animated video posted on TikTok and a school Google account depicting a Roblox character carrying out a shooting at The High School of Art and Design in Manhattan caused significant alarm among students and staff. The footage, which showed an armed character storming halls and shooting people, was reported to the NYPD on May 7 by a school employee. Following a thorough investigation, police determined the threat was non-credible, confirming there was no active danger, no injuries, and no need for evacuation. Consequently, no arrests have been made. The New York City Department of Education assured parents that classes would continue as scheduled while increasing NYPD presence around the school until the end of the academic year. Both TikTok and Roblox cooperated with authorities, resulting in the removal of the content from their platforms. Roblox emphasized its commitment to supporting law enforcement and reiterated that its community standards strictly prohibit content threatening real-world harm.
