Agustin Ojeda leads NYCFC to 3-1 win over Chicago Fire
Agustin Ojeda scored a goal and provided an assist as New York City FC defeated the Chicago Fire 3-1 at Yankee Stadium on Saturday night. Nicolas Fernandez Mercau opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a low-probability shot from outside the box. Chicago equalized in the 21st minute through Joel Waterman off a set piece, but Ojeda restored NYCFC's lead in the 29th minute with a sharp angled strike. Malachi Jones added a third goal in the 41st minute after Ojeda set him up. NYCFC goalkeeper Matt Freese made five saves, including four in the second half, to preserve the lead. The win moved NYCFC to 7-6-4 (25 points), while Chicago fell to 8-6-2 (26 points). Newly-signed striker Robert Lewandowski played the second half for Chicago but managed only one shot.
