Agate de Sousa to Compete in Athlos, All-Female Athletics Circuit by Serena Williams' Husband
Portuguese indoor world long jump champion Agate de Sousa has been announced as a participant in the Athlos circuit, an exclusively female athletics series created in 2024 by Alexis Ohanian, husband of tennis legend Serena Williams. Sousa, who won the indoor world title in Torun, will compete in two stages in 2025: first in London on September 18 at StoneX Stadium, and then in New York on October 2 at Icahn Stadium. Athlos is notable for its substantial prize pool, offering $60,000 to winners, $25,000 for second place, and $10,000 for third. The circuit has attracted top athletes including Gabby Thomas, Alexis Holmes, Faith Kipyegon, and Tara Davis-Woodhall. By 2026, Athlos plans to feature seven events: 100 meters, 100 meters hurdles, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, mile, and long jump.
