After Pyro Madness in the Cup Final – Record Penalties for Bayern and Stuttgart
FC Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart face record fines of 260,000 euros each from the German Football Association (DFB) after massive pyrotechnic displays by ultras during the DFB Cup final, which Bayern won 3-0. The DFB Sports Court cited the 'considerable extent, duration, and intensity' of the misconduct, including over 300 pyrotechnic items ignited in each fan section, causing a three-minute game delay. The DFB Control Committee had initially demanded higher fines (377,100 euros for Bayern, 365,000 euros for Stuttgart), but the clubs argued the DFB was responsible for security failures at entry controls. The court partially accepted this, reducing penalties by over 100,000 euros. Both clubs may use 86,700 euros of the fine for security or violence prevention measures by December 31. This follows previous pyro-related sanctions against Bayern by UEFA.
