Actor Bhavana Wins Chintha Raveendran Award 2026
Actor Bhavana has been selected for the Chintha Raveendran Award 2026, instituted in memory of the late film-maker, art critic, and travelogue writer. The award, which includes a cash prize of ₹50,000, a citation, and a sculpture, will be presented on July 25 at Kozhikode Town Hall. The jury, comprising poet K. Satchidanandan and journalists K.C. Narayanan and M.P. Surendran, recognized Bhavana for her efforts in protecting the independent existence of women in Kerala's social life. Writer N.S. Madhavan will preside over the ceremony, with speeches by senior journalist Shashi Kumar and writer Paul Zacharia. N. Ram, former Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu, will deliver a lecture on 'Unmaking the republic: How Hindutva authoritarianism is dismantling the basic structure of Indian Constitution'. This is the seventh edition of the award. Additionally, an art exhibition titled 'Echoes of an unfinished dream' will run from July 20 at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery, curated by Sunil Ashokapuram, as part of 'The Names of Gaza' events commemorating 18,000 children killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza.
