ABL Group Acquires SynergenOG to Expand Energy Consultancy Services in Asia Pacific
Oslo-listed global consultancy ABL Group has agreed to acquire 100% of SynergenOG, a Malaysia-based firm specializing in process safety and technical risk management for the energy industry. This strategic move aims to enhance ABL’s end-to-end technical offerings by integrating SynergenOG with its design and engineering subsidiary, Longitude. The acquisition establishes a technical center of excellence focused on driving safety, cost efficiencies, and performance throughout the asset lifecycle, from concept design to late-life operations. SynergenOG’s team of 45 consultants, operating across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, and India, brings proprietary software solutions and specialized expertise in HAZIDs and HAZOPs. The deal significantly strengthens ABL Group’s footprint in the Asia Pacific region, providing a strategic gateway to Borneo via a new presence in Brunei. Executives from both companies highlighted the synergy between SynergenOG’s operational safety experience and Longitude’s engineering capabilities, noting a clear market demand for integrated risk and engineering solutions. This integration allows clients to access a broader pool of over 200 design and engineering professionals, ensuring robust asset integrity management and optimized CAPEX and OPEX across more than 50 countries.
