Zimbabwe's Muzarabani Banned from PSL for Two Years Over IPL Switch

Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has received a two-year ban from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after breaching his contract with Islamabad United to join the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the sanction, stating that Muzarabani disregarded clear contractual obligations and principles of good faith by choosing a conflicting arrangement without valid cause. Although initially unsold in both auctions, Muzarabani had signed with Islamabad United but later accepted a role as a replacement player for Kolkata Knight Riders following the release of Mustafizur Rahman. Since the IPL and PSL schedules now overlap significantly, participation in both leagues is impossible for international players. This incident mirrors a previous case involving South African bowler Corbin Bosch, who received a one-year ban for similar conduct. The decision highlights the growing tensions and logistical conflicts between major cricket leagues, particularly amidst geopolitical sensitivities that have prevented Pakistani players from participating in the IPL since 2008.
