Zelenskyy Receives International Four Freedoms Award for Ukraine's Resilience

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was awarded the prestigious International Four Freedoms Award in Middelburg, Netherlands, on April 16, 2026. The honor, presented by the Roosevelt Foundation, recognizes the courage and resilience of Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people during more than four years of resistance against Russia's full-scale invasion. During the ceremony, Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and foundation chair Hugo de Jonge praised Zelenskyy’s steadfast leadership. Zelenskyy accepted the award on behalf of all Ukrainians and called for a moment of silence for recent victims of Russian attacks, urging accountability for war crimes. The event coincided with ongoing diplomatic efforts by Zelenskyy to secure further military and financial support from European allies, including significant defense packages from Germany and Norway. The Netherlands also announced new funding for drones. Other recipients included Gisèle Pelicot and the Committee to Protect Journalists. This award places Zelenskyy among notable previous winners such as Nelson Mandela and Angela Merkel, highlighting international solidarity with Ukraine amidst continued conflict and diplomatic maneuvers to sustain aid.
