Zelenskyy Confirms Ukrainian Interceptors Downed Iranian Drones in Middle East

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that Ukrainian technology and expert teams successfully intercepted and destroyed Iranian Shahed drones in the Middle East. This announcement follows the deployment of 228 Ukrainian specialists to the region after the outbreak of conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran. Zelenskyy clarified that these operations were not mere training exercises but active support in strengthening local air defense systems across several undisclosed countries. He highlighted the successful downing of both propeller-driven Shaheds and jet-engine drones as a significant validation of Ukraine's domestically produced interceptor technology. In exchange for this military assistance and advisory support, Kyiv is receiving weapons to protect its energy infrastructure and financial arrangements. The President recently signed defense agreements with Gulf nations, including the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, during a tour aimed at bolstering partnerships. Despite growing battlefield pressures at home, Zelenskyy noted that new Patriot systems continue to arrive in Ukraine. This development underscores Ukraine's emerging role as a key provider of drone warfare expertise amid ongoing global conflicts.
