German optics and optoelectronics company ZEISS has officially commenced construction of its new integrated Greater China headquarters complex in Shanghai’s Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone. This groundbreaking event, which took place on a Saturday, represents the company's largest single infrastructure investment in China to date. The expansive project will cover more than 50,000 square meters and is designed to house a comprehensive range of facilities, including research and development centers, management offices, a customer experience center, and high-end manufacturing units. Since entering the Chinese market in 1999, China has grown to become ZEISS's largest global market as of 2021. The new campus is strategically positioned to serve as a pivotal hub within ZEISS’s global innovation network.
