YSRCP Alleges Corruption and Nepotism in Amaravati Capital Project

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has leveled serious allegations of large-scale corruption and nepotism against the ruling Telugu Desam Party regarding the development of the Amaravati capital city in Andhra Pradesh. Former Minister Perni Venkataramaiah, speaking to the media in Tadepalli, claimed that the project imposes a significant financial burden on the state's citizens. He accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of orchestrating a scheme where plots are preferentially allotted to relatives and benami entities linked to the leadership, while genuine farmers are excluded or displaced to distant locations. Venkataramaiah advocated for the YSRCP’s alternative 'Mavigun' concept, describing it as a more practical and economical solution. The party further criticized the government for politically targeting opposition leader Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy instead of addressing these substantive concerns. The allegations highlight ongoing political tensions surrounding the land pooling process, which has reportedly affected nearly five lakh people. The YSRCP maintains that the current execution of the Amaravati project is marred by discrimination and financial mismanagement, urging a shift toward their proposed model to alleviate distress among affected farmers and ensure equitable development.
