Xiaohongshu Tests 'Quick Sell' Feature for In-App Secondhand Trading
Chinese lifestyle platform Xiaohongshu, also known as Rednote, is currently testing a new feature called 'Quick Sell' to facilitate secondhand trading directly within its application. According to reports from Tech Planet, this functionality allows users to list used items directly under their posts or share product cards via private chats. Sellers can configure various details, including item names, quantities, delivery methods, and shipping fees, with price caps set at RMB 10,000 (approximately $1,380). The platform charges a 0.6% transaction fee, which is comparable to the rates imposed by Xianyu, Alibaba’s prominent used goods marketplace. This development signifies a strategic expansion of Rednote’s e-commerce capabilities. It follows the company's structural reorganization in 2023, where it merged its e-commerce and livestreaming units into a standalone commerce division. Additionally, the introduction of a dedicated 'Marketplace' tab earlier this year highlights the company's intensified focus on promoting shopping and live-selling content. By integrating peer-to-peer selling tools, Xiaohongshu aims to deepen user engagement and capture a larger share of the secondary market, leveraging its strong community-driven content ecosystem to drive commercial transactions.
