VPA Chairperson Unveils Infrastructure and Green Energy Projects in Visakhapatnam

M. Angamuthu, the Chairperson of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), inaugurated a series of developmental initiatives and laid foundation stones for security enhancements at the port on Monday. The newly commissioned projects include an advanced Port Operation System and a 170 kW rooftop solar plant at the Sewage Treatment Plant, signaling the port's commitment to sustainable energy transitions. Additionally, a public promenade and a 38 Track Kilometre railway electrification project were unveiled to boost logistical efficiency and aesthetic appeal. Completed infrastructure upgrades feature improvements to the MCHV railway track, rectification of sharp curves, repairs at the SL Canal Jetty, and the construction of a customs boundary wall. To strengthen safety protocols, foundation stones were laid for Under Vehicle Scanning Systems at all entry points and radiological detection equipment at cargo gates. The Chairperson also initiated road restoration works, including regrading bituminous surfaces from Convent Junction Arch to H-7 Junction and internal improvements within the OHC area. These developments aim to modernize port operations, enhance security against hazardous materials, and improve overall infrastructure resilience in Visakhapatnam.
