The Visakhapatnam district administration has formally requested ₹600 crore from the Andhra Pradesh State government to facilitate private land acquisition for the ₹11,498 crore Visakhapatnam Metro Rail (VMR) project. This funding is identified as a critical milestone, as securing compensation for approximately 7.57 acres of private property in high-density areas like Thatichetlapalem and Chinna Waltair is the final administrative step before construction can commence later this year.
