Visionox Tops Out World’s First FMM-Free 8.6-Gen AMOLED Line with $7.7 Billion Investment
Chinese display manufacturer Visionox has announced the topping out of the main building for its new 8.6-generation AMOLED production line in Hefei, China. Developed through a joint venture with Hefei Guoxian Technology, this facility represents a significant milestone as the world’s first AMOLED production line to utilize FMM-free ViP (Fine Metal Mask-free Visionox Invention Pixelization) technology. The project, valued at approximately RMB 55 billion ($7.7 billion), is designed to produce 32,000 glass substrates per month, measuring 2290 mm by 2620 mm. Unlike traditional methods, the proprietary ViP technology employs semiconductor photolithography for pixel fabrication, which eliminates the limitations associated with Fine Metal Masks. This innovation allows for independent pixels, higher precision, and improved yield rates, ultimately enhancing cutting efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The production line specifically targets the growing premium market for medium-to-large displays, including applications in tablets, laptops, and automotive screens. This development underscores Visionox's strategic move to lead in next-generation display technologies and compete more effectively in the high-end consumer electronics and automotive sectors by offering superior performance and manufacturing efficiency.
