Vector Institute Launches Inaugural Postgraduate Affiliate Program
The Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence has officially launched its inaugural Postgraduate Affiliate Program, welcoming a diverse cohort of students and researchers specializing in deep learning, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Established in 2018, this initiative aims to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among academic talents across Ontario universities and institutions. The program complements similar upcoming initiatives for faculty and industry professionals, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for AI expertise. The selected affiliates include Master’s students, PhD candidates, and Postdoctoral Fellows who were evaluated based on their research contributions and alignment with the Institute's mission. Participants will receive an honorarium to support their engagement in Vector events and activities. This initial group represents a cross-section of research strengths from institutions such as the University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, Western University, McMaster University, and others. The Vector Institute plans to expand the program, with applications for the 2019 cohort scheduled to open later in the year. This launch is part of the broader pan-Canadian AI strategy led by CIFAR, promoting synergy between major AI institutes including amii and MILA.
